We are a local charity, founded six years ago and now based at Whinflower Hall, just east of Norton in North Yorkshire.

We are committed to supporting vulnerable young adults and offer them agricultural training involving the skills needed for the day-to-day running of a farm.

Basics Plus offers a number of sheltered employment opportunities.

The service also offers Practical 'At Work' Assessments which can assess skills in the following areas:

Basics Plus is in the process of redeveloping Betton Farm enabling opportunities for disabled people to work on the farm and in the café.

THE HAYSHED EXPERIENCE

A new user led social enterprise based in Commondale, Whitby provides work based training opportunities and
employment for disabled people.

We run taster courses specifically designed for
groups of up to 15 disabled people and their support staff,
if needed. These courses give all kinds of disabled
people the chance to participate in the running of a farm,
market garden and woodland

This agency can offer you advice and guidance on becoming a volunteer with various charitable and independent organisations in the community. The bureau can also look at its present volunteers who may be able to support you to take part in community activities or a sheltered work placement.
